Well, I have been in contact with Robert Morein, and he was of the mind that what I needed was the latest BIOS from MicroStarInternational, and I have been feeling really guilty for not getting back to Robert, because when I mentioned this to the guy who built the computer for me, he first off got me a v.6.0

Sorry, Dwight, Apple turns it on by default for file-mapping, which lowers the amount of RAM needed to launch applications repeatedly without significant system overhead.

How big are the FAT32 "chunks" that the system moves about in such a large drive running Defrag? How do you work it out? and how much RAM will I need? The only thing the SB Live uses System RAM for is... Soundfonts. And unless you are wanting to load multiple 32MB soundfonts, you really only need an extra 32MB or so above what you would normally need. Now, that said, you can never have too much RAM, and I would consider 128MB to be minimum nowadays.

Since the RAM needed to draw the screen is steady and doesn't change with respect to number of polys drawn, yet it DOES increase in processor throughput needed, the only bottle neck is the processor speed. RAM isn't even a factor in the equation. If the bottleneck is CPU power, then more RAM will not help.
